March 2025: We have good news

I’ve been wanting to write these words for a long time.

After searching for nearly two years, I am so excited to announce that Bread by Us has found a new home. <I AM SCREAMING>

For those of you who are new here or perhaps weren’t aware of the ongoing search, we have been looking for a new home for the bakery since 2023. We have outgrown our little slice of 1065 Wellington Street West, and in order to grow and thrive, we knew we needed a bigger space. Like a plant in a pot that’s too small, we just can’t grow here anymore.

Drumroll………

We have recently signed a lease at 126 Smirle Avenue. This space is truly a gem (and not too far from where we are now!). It is a huge space that has housed some heavy-hitters in recent years. In this new space, we will be able to bake so much more, expand our menu, and create a beautiful and spacious area for customers. We have big dreams for this new space, and we can’t wait to show you.

It means SO MUCH to us that we’ll be able to create a space where you can take a load off and linger in the warmth of it all. It feels more important than ever to cultivate spaces of coziness and enjoyment.

Bread by All of Us

Here’s a hard truth - we need your help. My partners and I are big dreamers, we are idealists, and we are deeply committed. Despite having all the drive and grit in the world, we are limited. We have survived well in these last 12 years, but we yearn to get beyond survival and into something more sturdy. We recognize that we have to widen our net of support in order to meet the challenges of this economic moment. We have arrived at this milestone, but in so many ways, the work is just getting started. The mountain ahead will require lots of resources, encouragement, skill-sharing, and labour. Here’s where we are hoping you will come in.

One week from now, we will be launching a Kickstarter campaign to help raise funds for our move. We are also exploring more traditional funding methods, but it felt really important to reach out to you in this tender moment of transition. We feel deeply connected to you after all these years. You are the ones who support us and cheer us on all the time. It only felt right to reach out to you now with this ask.

It’s difficult to ask for this kind of help. We know that economic times are challenging, so we don’t want to pressure anyone to extend beyond their means. You already support us so much just by being our customers. But in truth, we want to give Bread by Us the best possible start in its new home, and your help will help carry us into this next chapter in a stronger position. That would mean the world to us.

Please keep an eye out for my next email - it will contain a link to our campaign. There is a very low entry point for contributing - $5 is the lowest tier. Each tier has an amazing reward associated with it. I’m a little bit too excited to share the rewards with you 🙈

Whether you can contribute a larger sum, or just words of encouragement, I want to thank you in advance for your support. I want you to know that you’ve already helped - just by following along, sharing kind words, and consistently reminding us that we matter to you.
